Applications closes February 23 at 5:00 pm
Notifications will be emailed to families the week of March 11
Deadline for families to accept student's acceptance in order to save their spot by March 18 at 5:00 pm
Open houses will be hosted on the following dates. Attendance at one of these dates will count as Step 2 of the application process (attending a prospective parent session) if a student ends up being accepted via the lottery process.
- Thursday, Jan. 25 5:30-6:30 pm
- Tuesday, Feb. 6 5:30-6:30 pm
- Wednesday, Feb. 21. 5:30-6:30 pm
Spring Prospective Parent sessions will be held on the following dates throughout the Spring if a student was accepted through the lottery but a parent did not already attend one of the open house sessions during the application window.
- Tuesday, March 5 9:00-10:00 am
- Tuesday, April 2 2:00-3:00 pm
- Wednesday, May 1 12:00-1:00 pm

The Clara Brown Entrepreneurial Academy magnet school will add a grade level each year until the school ultimately serves students in grades K-8.
Our admissions process consists of 3 steps prior to being considered for admission.
- Complete the online interest form
- Attend an in-person information session/tour at the school. At least one/parent guardian must attend an information session. Your student is welcome to attend with you, but it is not required.
- Once the lottery has been conducted and your child's spot has been approved by you, you must fill out the APS Open Enrollment Form. You can obtain the form from our main office or by emailing [email protected]. After completing the form, please submit it to the main office either by email or in person.
PLEASE NOTE: Your child will not be able to start attending our school until all 3 steps are completed.
Once all 3 steps have been completed, CBEA staff will review applications to ensure students meet the APS Board Policy criteria for open enrollment. If students do not meet the Board criteria, you will be notified and their application may not be approved.

We closely align our application process with the APS open enrollment policies.
Schools which have been designated as magnet schools may develop and implement an admission process that is aligned with the school program and design. This admissions process may include specialized criteria, procedures and/or preferences specific to the school program and design. All magnet school admission processes must be reviewed and approved by the Superintendent or their designee before the admissions process may be implemented. Admission processes for magnet schools shall be maintained on the magnet school's website. Any subsequent change to an approved admissions process must also be approved by the Superintendent or their designee.
An open enrollment request may be denied at any time if:
- There is a lack of space or projected teaching staff within a particular program, or school requested;
- The school requested does not offer appropriate programs for the student, is not structured or equipped with the necessary facilities to meet the student's special needs , or does not offer a particular program requested;
- The student does not meet the established eligibility criteria for participation in a particular program, including age requirements, course prerequisites and required levels of performance;
- The student has been expelled from any school district during the preceding 12 months, or is in the process of being expelled, or the student may be or has been denied permission to enroll pursuant to C.R.S. 22-33-106(3)(A),(B),(C),(E), or (F).
- The student has demonstrated behavior in another school during the preceding 12 months that is detrimental to the welfare or safety of other students or of school personnel including but not limited to behavior that has resulted in an out-of-school suspension.
Students who move out of the district during the school year may complete the current school year at the school the student is currently attending. Students will be required to attend their new home school/district thereafter, unless application is made for inter-district choice/open enrollment and approval is granted.
