Larua Burke

Principal Laura Burke was born & raised in Denver, Colorado, and spent 15 years as a Special Education classroom teacher. She later earned her Master's Degree in Education from Regis University, her Principal & Special Education Director license from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, and her K-12 District Administrator's license from the University of Colorado, Denver.

Laura is the founder of a nonprofit organization that supports the success of students who think and learn differently through advocacy, workshops, and training for kids, parents, and educators. She has also served on several community organizations, including a City Commissioner for the Denver Commission for People with Disabilities. Laura joined the APS community in 2015 and has since served as an administrator at both the building and district levels. Laura is looking forward to continuing to support staff, students, and parents in her new role as the Founding Principal of Clara Brown Entrepreneurial Academy!

During her free time, Laura enjoys reading, coloring, listening to music, cheering on the home teams (Go Nuggets & Broncos!), and spending time outside, whether walking her dogs, hiking in the mountains, or scuba diving in the ocean! At her core, she genuinely loves people and spends time with her friends and family, including her husband and their blended family of 7 kids.
