SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER

Theresa "Tracy" Leming

Tracy is excited to return to the CBEA team as a special education teacher for the 2025-26 school year, which will be her 8th as a special education teacher in Aurora Public Schools. Tracy has worked with students in elementary and middle schools, and she has supported students with mild, moderate, and severe support needs. Tracy has also worked as a camper care coordinator, supporting the inclusion of campers with a variety disabilities at JCC Denver’s Camp Shai. Tracy has three children, one of whom has autism. Working with educators to support this child is what inspired Tracy to change careers in 2017, when she left a position as a competitive intelligence research analyst at a law firm to enroll in a teacher-training program sponsored by the Public Education and Business Coalition. Tracy has a master’s degree in Teaching Diverse Learners from the University of Northern Colorado, a master’s degree in Library Science from the University of Denver, a juris doctorate from the University of Colorado School of Law, and a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from Colorado Mesa University. In her spare time, Tracy enjoys making new clothes from old ones, knitting, playing board games with family and friends, trying new vegan recipes, and reading nerdy books about history and science.
